Behind the Blog

I do this for fun. I don't get paid by anyone, but I get to hear lots of great music and meet so many wonderful artists! I may not be an expert in the industry, but I have kids and I know what does and does not get old after listening to it 1,000 times in a row.

coming soon...

I'll be categorizing all the music I post by age! Soon you'll be able to click on an age group in the "Labels" section (infant, toddler, pre-schoolers, and elementary-aged kids, for example) and find all the music that is geared toward and/or appropriate for that age range.

Eric Herman: Where have you been all my life?

I have a PILE of children's music to report on that we listened to in the car on our trip to and from Portland, but this one must come first. Why? Because I'm so excited about him I'm about to rent an airplane and fly a banner around the entire state of Washington to let people know he'll be doing shows in Seattle. His name is Eric Herman and he has four albums out, the newest of which is called "Snail's Pace," which apparently has more of a mellow tone than his other albums. I found it through a random guy's blog, which I found through a random woman's blog, which I found during an internet search for new blog templates. Go figure. From there it wasn't hard to find his website, and from there I had at my fingertips a wealth of his music, videos, and the like. So here's what I found:

Winner of the 2006 Just Plain Folks Award for Best Children's Song:

"Blackbeard, Bluebeard, and Redbeard"

Then, a video from YouTube:

So there you have it. Eric Herman, children's music artist extraordinaire. You can plan to spend a good hour or more on his website.

Stephanie... Thank you so much for such a wonderful endorsement.

I found your blog through someone who visited my website who mentioned that you had written about it after reading about it from some random guy's blog who had heard about it from his dentist's hairdresser's driver's son, who had been passed a copy of my CD by his friend's babysitter's teacher's second cousin.

I hope you guys and your friends with kids (and all of their cousins' babysitters' hairdressers, and so on) get a chance to see a show this week... I just did a bunch of shows here in Seattle recently, but only have two more public shows before I head out of town - Tuesday at the Bitter Lake Community Center at 13035 Linden Ave N at 2 pm, and Wednesday at Cascade View Park in Tukwila at noon.

I'm glad I found your blog. I really like it! :o) I'll add a link from my Cool Tunes for Kids blogsite. If you're looking for some other kids' music to check out, I have a good variety featured there.

Very best,
Eric
